Service integrator, UXC, has acquired Canberra-based service provider, BCT Group, to build its presence in the federal government market. The purchase is part of a $20 million investment plan to boost its capabilities.
CEO of UXC's Business Solutions Group, Cris Nicolli, said its strategy was to get more involved in the Canberra market. BCT also tied in well with the company's focus on security.
"We want to really enhance some of the solutions that BCT offers in the market to help them grow and it gives us a good security and infrastructure combination," he said.
Nicolli did not disclose the sum of the acquisition, but said that it was a mixture of cash and shares. The company would integrate all 20 BCT staff. Over the next couple of months, UXC would look to integrate some of its smaller Canberra-based companies, he said.
"I'm not sure at this point whether we will change brands or not, but we are certainly not going to lose any staff, in fact we would probably need more," he said.
In January, UXC announced it would spend about $20 million on acquiring integrators.
SAP services company, Oxygen, was first off the rank.
"It is never easy to predict whether or not they will happen or what the timing is," he said. "Our next couple of acquisitions are likely to reinforce our current position - whether it is in Microsoft, Oracle or networking."
