McAfee has hatched a global services strategy to entice resellers to its security software services.
The company traditionally maintained an internally-focused professional services team, but is now inviting partners to join it at the services table, according to McAfee's APAC director system engineering and services, Michael Sentonas.
Under the program, partners can work in tandem with McAfee or venture out on their own, pitching all of its offerings, from anti-virus to intrusion prevention, as part of a McAfee-branded service, he said. The vendor would help partners scope out projects, and also pull together selling and delivery partners.
"The services strategy is the next step in meeting channel expectations," he said. "We want to offer our intellectual property to partners to enable all deployment services."
The increasing complexity of security implementations meant there was a growing opportunity for resellers to undertake risk management and vulnerability assessment services, Sentonas said.
The new model, which would launch in April, would complement the vendor's SecurityAlliance partner program, he said.
It would incorporate service delivery guides, services certification, and benefits for participation.
The goal was to stay away from offering a one-time certification and a fly-by-night relationship, Sentonas said.
"There are always new releases and security trends to deal with so we need to build an ongoing relationship," he said.
McAfee would also devise a customer satisfaction process to track the progress of the service partners, Sentonas said.
