A start-up that claims to provide independent software selection advice to medium and large-sized businesses has opened its doors in NSW.
Software Choice planned to help businesses make software selections relating to core business applications, such as CRM, ERP, payroll and HR software, its managing director, Meredith Thompson, said. Its services would revolve around business analytics, software procurement consulting and overall project management.
"In speaking to our clients, there seems to be a real lack of independent advice in the software area," she said. "Some people say that they're independent, but just recommend the same vendor's software."
The business has already signed five clients, including engineering firm, Douglass Partners, direct marketer, Salmat, and performance measurement consultant, Human Synergistics.
Currently part of a staff of two, Thompson said that her goal was to grow the business to about five specialist consultants by the end of the year.
"It's hard to find good people but there are so many different kinds of software, it's impossible to be an expert in all of them," she said.
With a background in IT and accounting, Thompson said she would take the lead on projects involving ERP, HR and payroll, but would be actively seeking personnel more proficient in CRM and workflow document management.
