Optus subsidiary, Alphawest Services, has won a three-year managed services contract with Victorian transport operator, V/Line.
Victorian general manager, Rob Szymanski, said the $1 million deal was a key outsourcing contract for the branch as it builds momentum in the Victorian market.
The WA-based company went head-to-head with Volante to win the tender.
The deal complements its previous Victorian contract win with transport company, Connex, last year, he said.
"They are the two key public transport authorities here," Szymanski said. "V/Line is a nice strategic win that helps build up our knowledge of department infrastructure."
Alphawest planned to recruit more staff to provide 24x7 continuous monitoring and management of its IT infrastructure, helpdesk facilities, daily on-line support, backup and disaster recovery services across V/Line's rail and coach services and railway stations.
