Queensland-based IT retail chain, The Disc Shop, is for sale. Founded by Allan Green in 2000, it has nine stores in Queensland and opened a Coffs Harbour, NSW, premises in October. It also has a head office in Coopers Plains with 13 staff.
Sales agents, Business Brokers Queensland, said total annual turnover last year reached $20.5 million.
Stock on hand, which will be part of the sale, is valued at $1.2 million.
The principal and licensee for the sale, Ron Frank, said Green had decided to bow out of the business for personal and family commitments.
"He is also aware that the business has become overwhelmingly large for one person to oversee, even with good staff," he said.
Frank said the chain would suit management buyout or acquisition by a larger company.
He said there had already been strong interest from within the industry and private equity fund managers.
The Disc Shop carries about 1000 product lines including complete PC systems, software, components, peripherals and printer consumables. Its focus has been on warehouse pricing and stock availability.
