Peripherals distributor, Multimedia Technology (MMT), has made its first foray into the power protection market through a new distribution deal with Eaton Powerware. MMT purchasing manager, Michael Muscat, said the distributor would carry the complete range of Powerware products, from consumer devices to 60kVA systems for enterprise UPS deployments.
"Eaton Powerware is close to the largest UPS supplier in Australia but without the profile of American Power Conversion," he said. "There is a lot of business potential there for us. We haven't done UPS before but it's an important add-on sale."
There were plans to bundle some of the Powerware models with other products from the MMT catalogue but Muscat said nothing had been finalised yet. MMT joins existing Eaton distributors including Bluechip Infotech and Cellnet.
Muscat said he had approached Powerware after the demise of Omega Technology, which had been earmarked by the vendor as a possible new recruit. Eaton had previously worked with Hallmark International, which was acquired by Omega in April last year. MMT would offer reseller training in conjunction with the vendor, he said.
