Bluechip forced into relocation

NSW-based distributor, Bluechip Infotech, has been forced to relocate after its landlord decided to sell up.

The new premises in Silverwater are not far from the Auburn site it has had to leave behind after four years. It has 3000sqm of office and warehouse space, compared to 2200sqm at its previous base. Most of the extra capacity is warehousing.

Managing director, Johnson Hsiung, said the new location was only five minutes from the old site but had moved the distributor nearer to leading vendor partners Acer, Asus and BenQ.

Bluechip is also changing its ERP system in an attempt to improve operational efficiency. It has swapped a legacy Distrib system for a Microsoft Axapta solution, which is due to go live next week.

"The new system will be more user-friendly and enable us to generate more reports," Hsiung said. "We have been testing since January and it should go live on March 1."
