Animation changes LifeView with GDB appointment

ACT-based distie, GDB International, has picked up exclusive rights to carry LifeView multimedia products for Taiwan's Animation Technologies. The range had previously been distributed by Bluechip IT, Multimedia Technology (MMT) and Rectron.

Bluechip managing director, Johnson Hsiung, confirmed the change. He said his company would sell its remaining LifeView stock within a month. "The termination is by mutual agreement," he said. "They [Animation Technologies] asked for certain sales targets, which we didn't think were suitable for our channel because our focus isn't on that kind of product.

"GDB is a smaller company but it is more focused on graphic and digital TV stuff."

MMT purchasing manager, Dave Wilson, said it had not been notified of the change by Animation Technology when contacted by ARN.

Rectron managing director, Jimmy Lu, was also unaware of the decision and said he would contact Animation for clarification.

He said Rectron had not been carrying a broad range of LifeView products.

GDB International managing director, Gene Bridge, was excited to have been awarded exclusive rights.

"We sold some LifeView products a few years back, but we were never a distributor," he said. "The products are mostly TV tuner cards and will complement other products we have such as Web cams. It's a pretty exciting win for us because there's a lot of competition in this market."
