Leading Solutions has scored a three-year contract worth $1.5 million to provide more than 1000 Acer desktop PCs, LCD monitors and notebooks to SBS television.
Managing director, Frank Colli, said it was a big deal for the reseller and cited strong commitment to the vendor as a major reason for its appointment.
"We have only had a relationship with Acer for a year but we have invested a lot of time in the relationship to make sure our solutions integrated nicely with their devices," he said.
Dell had been the incumbent supplier at SBS for six years, Acer's national corporate sales manager, Frank Ugolini, said. But the television company had issued a tender for the contract six months ago with Acer winning out over Dell, Lenovo, Toshiba and HP.
A delighted Ugolini said the deal was significant for Acer as it looked for growth in the mid-sized corporate market.
"We are kicking a lot of Dell goals at the moment," he said. "A channel strategy offers better value than going direct, particularly with mid-sized corporate customers."
Ugolini said Leading Solutions had been selected to fulfill the tender from among the vendor's partner base because of its flexible e-commerce solution.
"Together with Leading Solutions, we were able to demonstrate that a customised solution is better than one size fits all," he said. "We customised several service level agreements and the processes around SBS specific requirements."
In November, Acer won a deal with SBS radio. Ugolini said this could have helped its cause in winning the television contract.
"It gave them some comfort and experience, rather than having a fear of the unknown," he said.
