TruSecure appoints development director
Risk management vendor, TruSecure, has appointed Chy Chuawiwat as business development director for Asia-Pacific. Based in Sydney, his primary responsibilities include managing its channel partners and developing opportunities across all parts of the company’s business in the region. “There needs to be more awareness of appropriate IT security standards and best practice benchmarks put in place for organisations and security suppliers to agree on and work towards,” he said. Prior to joining TruSecure, Chuawiwat was managing director Asia-Pacific for content security vendor Clearswift. He has also held roles as vice-president of sales for US-based Celsian Technology and manager of product marketing for Compaq Computers.
MessageLabs wins CSC contract
Managed email security services vendor, MessageLabs, has been selected by Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) to secure its global email system from spam and Internet viruses. CSC’s vice-president of distributed, collaborative, e-infrastructure services, John Butch, said that with about 90,000 employees worldwide, CSC needed a solution that was centrally managed, delivered across a global infrastructure and monitored and supported around the clock. MessageLabs Asia-Pacific technical director, David Banes, said MessageLabs’ managed services approach eliminated risks at the Internet layer. “This approach creates significant financial, technical and legal advantages gained from keeping viruses, spam and other malware away from corporate networks,” he said. MessageLabs said spam accounted for more than 63 per cent of all global email traffic scanned by the company and 80 per cent of all viruses came from the Internet.
