Vodafone has created a dedicated national business channel in a bid to win more SOHO and SMB business customers.
The new partner structure initially comprises two of its platinum partners, Mobiletronics and Red Mercury. Both had tendered for the small business roles following a pre-qualification process. Vodafone also has long-term plans for additional points of presence across the country.
The head of its small business channel, Declan O'Callaghan, said the two partners would employ about 200 staff between them that would "eat, sleep and breathe" like Vodafone employees.
Mobiletronics and Red Mercury would offer voice, BlackBerry and 3G/GPRS services to customers.
O'Callgahan said Vodafone would, in the longer term, appoint additional resellers to target the space.
"They will be both retail and B2B - places where people are looking for trusted small business advisors for their IT&T spend," he said.
In the meantime, Mobiletronics and Red Mercury would concentrate on businesses with 10 to 250 employees.
