Queensland-based XiT Distribution has struck a deal with Epson to distribute its product range throughout the Northern Territory and Queensland.
XiT spent two years as a sub-distributor for the vendor. It will now take on a raft of new products including inkjet and laser printers, projectors, scanners and consumables.
XiT managing director, Santo Pappalardo, said it was easier to have a direct relationship with Epson because it provided quicker access to stock.
"It allows us to provide a better service for our customers and better pricing," he said. "When you don't have a direct relationship, there isn't a huge incentive to really push the product. Since Epson has showed faith in us, we want to increase sales."
Epson marketing director, Mike Pleasants, said the company went with XiT in order to provide wider regional presence for resellers.
"We were looking to bring another regional distributor on board and XiT had done a good job for us as a sub-distributor," he said.
Epson is also distributed by Ingram Micro, Synnex, Alloys International, Dicker Data, CompuWholesale, BMS, HiTech and Cellnet.
Pleasants said none of these relationships would be terminated to make way for XiT.
