Data recovery services company, CBL, has appointed Katie Smith as its first channel manager to cater for its swelling reseller ranks.
Managing director, Vicky Brauner, said exponential growth in the number of recovery jobs being undertaken by the company, as well as a leap in resellers, had prompted the need for a dedicated channel person.
"Our reseller base is large enough that they require personal service, so this appointment will make it easier for them," she said.
Smith had been working part-time for CBL over the past year in a customer service role, learning about the process of data recovery, Brauner said. Prior to that, she spent about five years working for Coles Myer.
"Katie's experience in helping customers and clients is her forte," she said. "You also have to be comfortable in what data recovery services are for this role."
Over the past year, CBL grew its partner base to 60 via its Data Recovery Advantage program. The company is now looking to expand this further to 200 resellers by the end of 2007.
Brauner said partners could choose to either pass on customers to CBL directly, or brand its data recovery services as part of a broader disaster recovery solution.
Alongside its channel recruitment drive, CBL is also planning to double the size of its Sydney and Brisbane labs, and was investigating the possibility of a third lab in WA.
Brauner said it was now in the process of engineering its expansion plans in Brisbane.
