EMC to acquire Microsoft service provider

EMC announced Monday that it has acquired Internosis, a provider of support and services for Microsoft applications.

The acquisition of the 250-person company underscores the increasing importance of Microsoft applications in the enterprise network. Internosis will become the Microsoft Practice in EMC's 900-person Technology Solutions group.

Internosis - with offices in Washington, D.C.; Boston; Colorado Springs, Colo.; and New York - is focused exclusively on supporting Microsoft applications such as Exchange and SQL Server.

The acquisition of Internosis follows EMC's acquisition last week of Acxiom's business intelligence technology and its acquisitions last year of Captiva and Acartus. The company is filling out its portfolio of information management technology, which it can pair with its storage systems.
