Antiporn tool now in Mozilla flavor

Guardware has release a new version of its antiporn system which it claims can stop employees viewing sexual content in web browsers, regardless of the source.

Unlike most conventional browser filters, iShield and ScreenShield Enterprise does not rely on the blunt URL blocking, instead using an image-detection engine to perform filtering.

The software stops staff viewing images that had come from sources other than Web browsing, blocking porn embedded in e-mails or sent as attachments, on CDs, DVDs, and other removable media.

Because the product has been designed for use in companies, the filtering sensitivity can be adjusted down to departmental level, the company said. It is claimed that it can work out for itself whether to block an image or the entire screen, depending on context.

The rising popularity of browsers other than Internet Explorer has prompted the company to announce support for Firefox, Mozilla, and Netscape in the overhauled software. Even now, support for antiporn filtering beyond Explorer is still patchy in many equivalent tools.

Techworld was unable to confirm volume pricing for Screenshield at the time of going to press. The press release section -- which can only be found through Google -- contains Latin dummy text and is clearly a work in progress.

Pricing information for iShield and iShield Plus can be found separately on the company website.
