Tecksel has strengthened its software portfolio by signing a distribution agreement with Internet security provider, BullGuard.
The distributor's managing director, Lee Mutimer, said the Internet Security Suite, which provided antivirus and firewall security as well as backup functionality, was squarely targeted at the SoHo and SMB markets.
This was the predominant area of interest for Tecksel's core reseller base.
"In the past we haven't really dabbled in software," he said.
"With license-based products, it is always a little dangerous to get involved because you have to be aware of upgrades or changes. But this is a straightforward CD-based package, which has performed well in the UK."
BullGuard local sales manager, James Rhodes, said Tecksel joined Queensland-based distributors, Intellitron and Computer Wholesale Distribution. Once a customer base was in place, the channel would be entitled to a rebate on subscription renewals, Rhodes said.
Tecksel planned to bundle the software with a selection of its small office hardware products such as networking kit or multifunction printers, Mutimer said.
The partnership with BullGuard was part of plans to aggressively pursue more vendor opportunities, he said.
For example, Tecksel was working on a partnership with projection screen vendor, Herma, to bundle its range of products with its current Panasonic projector range.
