Network critical infrastructure vendor, American Power Conversion (APC), has appointed a new general manager for A/NZ. Gordon Makryllos steps into the shoes of Leanne Cunnold following her promotion to Asia-Pacific managing director.
APC is well known in the market for its UPS power devices but Makryllos plans to increase brand awareness across its entire product range. He will mainly focus on marketing campaigns to improve sales and hopes to have a strong presence in the consumer, SME and enterprise markets.
"My biggest challenge is to work with channel partners and make sure they understand that APC has moved into a whole new space in the market," Makryllos said.
"I want them to recognise we are more than just a power vendor - we have security, cooling, racking and manageability solutions."
APC is looking for more resellers to include in its Channel Partner Program to cater for its diverse product range. The program offers hands-on training, marketing support, preferred pricing, access to demonstration centres and a Web-based solutions tool as well as sales and technical support.
"There is room for a range of channel partners and, as more industries are moving over to VoIP solutions, everyone is beginning to be concerned about what will happen when the power goes down," he said.
Makryllos has extensive experience in IT. He was previously Siemens general manager of sales and marketing.
