Acer is looking to capitalise on significant growth across the retail sector by appointing new national retail channel manager, John Pignolet.
"The retail business has experienced an accelerated growth in excess of 100 per cent during the past three years," general manager of channel sales, Greg Mikaelian, said. "It's important for us to keep growing - that's why we have put a formal structure in place. "As Acer launches into the home and small office market segments, we thought it was appropriate to give retailers the required support."
Pignolet was promoted to the newly created role having previously worked as a business development manager for Acer's distribution business.
This job has now been given to Zac El-Khansa.
A major focus for Pignolet and his team of 10 staff would be to roll out Acer's e-business ecosystem infrastructure for retail partners during the next 18 months. This would include its kiosks, online ordering, configuring and quotations.
He will also run business demand generation programs and the company's annual national retail forum.
Mikaelian said Acer now derived most of its commercial business online and hoped to move retail partners into that sphere. The company also wanted to add more retail partners, he said.
