SYDNEY, July 14, 2004 – With the goal of helping companies to reduce the complexity of managing regulatory compliance cost-effectively, four leading providers of enterprise solutions today announced that they are collaborating to bring what they believe is the most advanced compliance management capability to their customers on a global basis.

Current members of the Compliance Alliance initiative include FileNet Corporation, the leading provider of Enterprise Content Management solutions; BearingPoint, Inc., one of the world’s largest business consulting and systems integration firms; Network Appliance Inc., a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions; and Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Working individually or in combination, these business partners intend to collaborate to build and market enterprise compliance management solutions based on FileNet’s enterprise content management technology.

The Compliance Alliance combines industry leading services and products that will enable customers to deploy compliance management solutions to control enterprise content and business processes, providing proven enterprise scalability, domain expertise and systems and storage capabilities. Using compliance experts, customers can pinpoint critical compliance management issues and deploy solutions that allow them to improve productivity, reduce the cost of compliance and meet audit requirements simultaneously.

To address its customers’ compliance needs, FileNet is offering one of the industry’s first independent comprehensive frameworks to address an organisation’s complex content and business process requirements associated with compliance management. Designed to enable better and faster decision-making across the enterprise, FileNet’s recently announced Compliance Framework is designed to offer tightly integrated content, process and connectivity capabilities into a complete compliance solution.

Built on FileNet’s P8 architecture, the Compliance Framework brings together specific capabilities that are critical to compliance, including records management, forms management, content management and “point in process” collaboration.

“In this time of intensified scrutiny and constantly changing regulations, the market demands strict regulatory compliance with governmental and industry regulations. We believe organizations need cost-effective and reliable compliance management solutions from vendors that understand compliance issues and provide best practice business processes,” said James Rae, FileNet’s Managing Director Australia and New Zealand.

“Each company in the FileNet Compliance Alliance initiative brings distinct skills to address these needs. Combining these critical technologies and expertise with best-practice business processes will enable customers to find solutions to their compliance problems quickly and easily.”

Network Appliance Vice President of Solutions and Alliances, Patrick Rogers, said, "As regulations mandate longer-term retention of data, enterprises need flexible storage systems that scale to meet business and regulatory compliance requirements. NetApp network storage solutions combined with our SnapLock software offer a superior alternative to tape and optical for content management and archiving applications, giving customers a flexible, easy-to-manage, cost-effective and high-performance product, built on open standards. Working with FileNet and other business partners will help us to deliver these enterprise-wide compliance solutions."

“BearingPoint’s Risk and Financial Management group brings global experience, specific domain competencies and industry-proven practices to the area of compliance,” said Christopher Hamilton, a Senior Vice President with BearingPoint. “Our close strategic relationship with FileNet allows us to deploy cost-effective and high-performance services and solutions that address complex content and Business Process Management issues critical for complying with evolving regulations.

“Complying with today's myriad federal regulations, SEC mandates and numerous state and local acts requires a flexible, quickly adaptable IT environment,” said Mark Tolliver, Sun's Executive Vice President, Marketing and Chief Strategy Officer. “FileNet's Compliance Framework, which is integrated with and deployable on Sun's enterprise servers, network storage and software systems, assures customers that their IT infrastructure can keep up with current regulatory requirements.”
