Two Melbourne-based resellers have merged operations to boost their market reach.
ComputerSource, which previously had one store in the city's CBD, has acquired the five stores of Tecs for an undisclosed sum.
The deal, which closed on November 28, will see the new entity trade as Tecs ComputerSource.
A spokesperson said the companies had historically enjoyed different strengths. ComputerSource was best known for networking while Tecs had developed a large corporate supply business.
"The two companies had strengths in different areas but the market was getting more competitive," he said. "United, they will be a greater force in the market."
The spokesperson said the two companies employed about 50 staff, all of whom would be retained.
In January, Tecs ComputerSource would look to recruit more technicians and corporate sales staff, he said.
ComputerSource managing director, Joe Lin, will oversee operations of the newly merged entity.
Tecs managing director, Willie Fang, has left to pursue other interests, according to the spokesperson.
