BakBone Software has leaped into the data replication and high availability market following the acquisition of US-based Constant Data.
BakBone traditionally played in the back-up and restore arena, but lacked the replication and high availability beats, local country manager, Victor Koshka, said.
"This is our biggest step forward since the launch of the NetVault product two or three years ago," he said. BakBone plans to combine its NetVault offerings with Constant Data's range.
Constant Data's flagship product, Constant Replicator, offers off-side data mirroring, providing immediate recovery and business continuity, digital content distribution, wide area clustering, and data consolidation from remote offices.
The first move in the wake of the merger is the unveiling of a new storage strategy, dubbed Integrated Data Protection. This is is aimed at giving medium and large enterprise users a unified view of storage and protection.
"The framework will help us take disparate point solutions in protecting data and integrate them under one common console/application," Koshka said.
