Hewlett-Packard last week announced its Electronic Solutions Now (ESN) Web site program, where members can go to purchase HP 9000 Enterprise Servers, storage and support services.
The private, customised ESN Web sites are password protected and allow customers to buy products and track orders and shipment status online.
The vendor's intention is to make conducting business with HP easier by creating an open service model, according to Stephen Hamilton, HP's worldwide marketing services manager for its enterprise accounts organisation. HP is targeting large enterprise customers with their ENS Web site services, which are tailored to suit the way they conduct business with HP, Hamilton explained.
Features of the ESN program include: order placement; shipment tracking; a single point of entry into HP's Web site; personalised product information; customised information; and employee purchase discounts.
The ESN site includes a customised, automated tool that provides detailed information to users about their HP business transactions and helps manage the daily flow of information, officials said. HP has made ESN scalable to accommodate user's changing needs.
HP customises individual views of an organisation's ESN Web site, depending on what company the user is with and what the nature of their role is within the company, said Hamilton.
The ESN program features a monthly information service that provides IT and business executives with a range of opinions and perspectives on IT issues which can be used in planning future business investments.
Having implemented ESN worldwide, HP currently has over 300 enterprise accounts online in the US and Europe. The vendor anticipates extending the ESN program to more that 1000 enterprise customers and expanding the service to channel and industry partners by the end of the year.
