MessageLabs Expands APAC Team

<p>Three new positions created to support targeted partner and sales strategy</p>
<p>Sydney, 15 November 2005 – MessageLabs, the leading provider of messaging security and management services to businesses, today announced the expansion of its Asia Pacific team. The three newly created positions are designed to meet the growing demand for managed security services in the Asia Pacific market with particular focus on Australia.</p>
<p>Joining the Asia Pacific team are Andrew Antal - Marketing Director, Tom Chan – Client Services Manager and Belinda Burgess - Partner Account Director, all based in Sydney.</p>
<p>James Scollay, Vice President Asia Pacific for MessageLabs, said that the appointments were part of a new team structure to support the company’s growing focus on the region. Local customers include ABN-AMRO, Bank of Queensland, Cathay Pacific, Harvey World Travel, Sanitarium, Standards Australia, Thiess and Virgin Blue.</p>
<p>“The appointments reflect the growth in business over the past year and lays the foundation for continued growth in the Australia/New Zealand marketplace.</p>
<p>“Globally, MessageLabs was listed on the Sunday Times Tech Track 100 annual league table of Britain’s fastest growing technology companies based on 39 percent sales growth - the only company to be listed consecutively for the last five years. Locally, within APAC, our growth rate over the last year has been significantly higher.</p>
<p>“We have seen a clear shift in perception across APAC where IT security is being more often treated as a business issue rather than a purely technical problem. The Australian market is the most mature in the region – a result of awareness of the issue, increased volume of spam and virus attacks, compliance requirements and the recognition that email is a business critical application.</p>
<p>“Partners are key to our success so with the appointment of Belinda and Tom we have significantly increased our depth of resource to support partner enablement – driving mutual success for them and us. Andrew joins us in a regional marketing role and will have input to the APAC business strategy at a regional level,” Mr Scollay said.</p>
<p>Andrew Antal has been appointed as Marketing Director Asia Pacific, elevating the previous marketing role to regional director level. In this role he is responsible for driving awareness of MessageLabs’ full range of managed service offerings. Core to this will be the local roll out of new services such as the new Web Security services for HTTP traffic - preventing threats such as spyware, and secure instant messaging (IM) following MessageLabs’ recently announced intention to acquire IM specialist Omnipod.</p>
<p>Andrew was most recently the Marketing Director Asia Pacific for Interwoven. Previously he held regional and marketing roles for Computer Associates, Insevo Inc, VERITAS Software, Seagate and Autodesk. In 2000-2001 he was based in Mountain View California as a Senior Marketing Director for VERITAS.</p>
<p>Belinda Burgess has joined the team as Partner Account Director and will be dedicated to supporting the needs of MessageLabs’ certified and associate partners. As part of this Belinda will lead the local launch of the MessageLabs Associate Partner program, which has already been successfully rolled out in Europe and the US. The program is designed to support small to medium sized IT businesses, allowing them to quickly join the MessageLabs partner network without a major investment.</p>
<p>Belinda comes to MessageLabs from Cisco where she was the Distribution Service Account Manager. She has also held a range of marketing and channel related roles in the IT industry with Ingram Micro, 3COM and LAN Systems.</p>
<p>Tom Chan brings 16 years of IT and telecommunications industry experience to his role of Client Services Manager, Asia Pacific. He is responsible for ensuring partners and customers in the region are provided with the technical and product support to get the best results from their engagement with MessageLabs. He will also oversee learning programs that will drive enterprise messaging and Internet security awareness and solutions.</p>
<p>Tom has worked with Telstra, MCI Worldcom and IBM – all of which are MessageLabs key partners. He will be aligned to specific channel partners and their customers to not only ensure they are kept abreast of MessageLabs’ roadmap, but also to take feedback about local enduser needs and requirements back to the product managers and developers.</p>
