Synnex gets HP notebooks

Synnex has been given access to HP notebooks after demonstrating that it has hundreds of resellers that are not on the customer lists of the vendor's current partners, Ingram Micro and Dicker Data. It is believed Synnex will get stock from November 1.

The Melbourne-based distributor stands to gain major cross-selling opportunities from the appointment because it has been distributing HP printers for about four years. It has also been carrying the vendor's printing consumables for the past couple of years.

Synnex managing director, Frank Sheu, would not comment on the new partnership but both of HP's current notebook distributors confirmed they had been in meetings with the vendor last week. Neither would confirm that the appointment of a third player had been discussed.

When contacted, HP issued a statement via its Solutions Partner Organisation director, Martin Dare, which said it was company policy not to comment on rumour and speculation.
