MBS signs with MITI
Management Information Tools Inc (MITI) and Meier Business Systems (MBS) have announced an agreement that will see MBS acts as a provider of Management Information Tool Software (MITS) maintenance, support and upgrades in Australia. MBS will provide local support to MITS customers and resellers. MBS managing director, Martin Meier, said MITS complimented its core product and service offerings and provided its reseller network with an opportunity to add value to end users. MITI general manager, Fred Owen, said MBS was the right partner as it would enable MITI to broaden its reach, deliver much needed data reporting solutions and consulting to the market. MITS is a MultiValue online analytical processing/business intelligence tool which offers dynamic and interactive data reporting.
IBM to help ATO Change
IBM has signed a three-year, $14.3 million deal with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) that will see Big Blue providing technology-based mid-range software and services. The agreement is designed to help the ATO realise the business benefits of its much-anticipated Change Program. This will include replacing and modernising its existing tax business systems. IBM middleware software will be used to support the Services Oriented Architecture (SOA). The SOA is designed to interconnect and integrate Web-based systems, commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS) and legacy applications to encourage more customers to meet their tax responsibilities online. IBM Australia general manager public sector, Tony Best, said IBM would provide the ATO with a more integrated software environment to allow the new tax applications to be developed on the mainframe platform. This would ensure a more reliable and durable processing environment.
