Specialist security distributor, WhiteGold Solutions, has signed on as the first distribution partner for US wireless vendor, AirTight Networks.
WhiteGold sales director, Jonathan Odria, said it would carry AirTight's full range of wireless intrusion prevention and detection systems, including its SpectraGuard Enterprise, Sentry and Planner products.
AirTight is the first wireless security vendor to be added to its books.
The distributor would also be providing training, evaluation and support, as well as managed services around the product range, Odria said.
Managing director, Dominic Whitehand, said he expected product take-up would be broadly across corporates and enterprises.
"This suits any network infrastructure environment as it stops wireless getting onto the network as well as protects existing wireless infrastructure," Whitehand said. "Customers won't end up with rogue access points."
While the product line offered partners a good opportunity to on-sell to existing customers, Odria said WhiteGold was also already in discussions with several new high-end VARs playing in the wireless space.
Partners would be expected to have one sales staff and one technical staff member trained in AirTight's products, he said.
"There's no huge barrier to entry, but we'll be careful on the quality of the support out there," Odria said.
WhiteGold would look at offering product bundles including the new AirTight range, as well as developing managed services, he said.
"We are excited by the opportunity, as we're just coming into a phase where uptake of wireless is strong," he claimed. "There's a big wireless threat that needs to be addressed."
In August, AirTight announced it was expanding its reseller ranks, appointing five new resellers to take on its Wi-Fi security products. These included ASI Solutions, LANLink and StarTech Communications. Odria said all would now be buying via WhiteGold.
