Vectra Corporation has been handed the Prime Minister's Award for Excellence in Community Business Partnerships.
It has assisted Community Information Strategies Australia (CISA) over the past two years through financial support, as well as providing free access to security specialists and staff for IT training, consulting and advice as part of its CommunIT project. This allowed CISA to provide a project officer to manage the project, complete IT health checks for community organisations, organise the Connecting Up Conferences and create a supporting website.
Dr Andrew Southcott MP, on behalf of the Minister for Family and Community Services, Senator Kay Patterson, said these award-winning partnerships demonstrated the rewards for businesses, community organisations and individuals that went beyond the commercial realities of working together. Vectra Corporation managing director, Chris Smerdon, said the Prime Minister's award was a bonus for the company. "The real reward for Vectra is the chance to ensure that important community organisations are protected from the many information security threats that exist today," he said.
