Sony recently hosted the second in a series of fund-raising events to mark the 2004 ARU Rugby Test Series.
Held at the Grace Hotel in Sydney, the event was attended by rugby greats such as Wallabies legend and former coach, Glen Ella, current Wallabies stars Lote Tiquiri, Matt Giteau and Brendan Cannon, and media and retail partners. Tim Webster was master of ceremonies.
Other events were held in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane to help raise funds for Sony Foundation Australia.
The Sydney lunch featured spirited entertainment. Webster hosted an individual Q&A discussion with Glen, Lote, Matt and Brendan and a silent auction for collector’s items that included a Matthew Burke signed collage and an ELLA ELLA ELLA jersey — a Wallabies Jersey signed by Mark Ella, Glen Ella and Gary Ella.
Sony Australia’s marketing communications manager, Megan Short, said the Sony Foundation had raised more than $5 million in the past five years, which had been used to assist Australian youth in the community and foster their talents.
“The sponsorship [of the ARU Wallabies] gives Sony the chance to host events like these that can give back to the community,” she said. “Events like these give our retail partners a chance to be involved as well.”
