Queensland-based wireless distributor, inTechnology, had become the first and sole local wholesaler of AirWave's wireless network management software.
The AirWave Management Platform (AMP) is a software suite for provisioning and monitoring a multi-vendor, WLAN. Director of sales and marketing, Mark Winter, said it planned to offer AMP as a standalone product, as well as bundle it with items from its complementary wireless portfolio. InTechnology's current vendor line-up includes Juniper Networks, BigFix, Infoexpress and access gateway vendor, Advanced Network Technology Laboratories (AntLabs).
"We want to take the full suite of wireless products to the channel and their customers," Winter said. "Through our distribution of the Funk and Juniper products, we can do wireless security authentication at the front-end, have the middle network solution and end-point tools at the edge.
"AirWave's wireless management software allows centralised management of all access points across the network. It means we can sell the full package."
Internationally, AirWave maintains partnerships with networking vendors like Aruba Networks, HP ProCurve and Airspace. Winter said it hoped to leverage those relationships by working with each vendor's partners locally.
"With our Juniper kit, we have been working with ProCurve's channel partners to deliver the full solution on the 802.1x side," he said. "Juniper doesn't do the switch hardware, so we have to use other vendors to do that."
AirWave had been using a New Zealand-based partner to cover the Australian market, Winter said. The new distributor appointment was part of efforts to bolster its local representation and sales.
InTechnology was now looking to recruit about 20 new wireless-specific resellers.
Partners would be required to complete some sales and technical training. However, there was no formal certification currently in place, Winter said.
