Tecksel has packed its bags and moved headquarters from the Sydney suburb of Silverwater to Arndell Park. Director, Mark Kofahl, said the distributor's warehousing space would double to 600sqm as a result of the relocation. It had been situated in Silverwater since its inception eight years ago.
"Our older building was poorly configured for a warehouse," he said. "It was a training centre originally, where we made some space for warehousing. The driving force behind moving was the desire to become more efficient with our warehousing and storage."
The new premises were located by the M4/M7 interchange. The M7 Westlink is scheduled to be opened next year.
"Several disties and manufacturers have already moved out here, including LG," he said.
As well as increasing its storage capacity, Kofahl said Tecksel was in the process of overhauling its telephony system across to IP. The distributor had invested in a Mitel 3300 telephony system which would be up and running by the end of September. This would allow it to unify its Sydney and Brisbane premises onto the one telephony platform, he said.
"We can be more flexible with staffing arrangements," Kofahl said.
"If we are busy in Sydney, then Queensland staff can takes the calls, and vice versa."
Tecksel now maintains 12 product lines. Kofahl said it was experiencing growth across its AV and entertainment wares, such as Panasonic plasma screens and projectors.
