Ricoh has created an IT reseller channel and opened up its full range of products to what were formerly 'printer-only' dealers.
With the exception of Sydney, the company has also repealed all territorial restrictions placed on partners.
The channel restructure has been designed to help improve its sales numbers in the local printer and MFD market.
Previously, Ricoh's channel consisted of regionally-aligned independent franchises operating under the Ricoh Business Centre brand and a network of 'printer-only' dealers.
New partners will operate under their own business names and have access to all products from Ricoh. They will also be allowed to carry selected competitive brands.
General sales manager, Greg Heard, said the move would help partners make the most of the current document management and colour market trends.
"There is an opportunity for dealers and franchises who want to grow out of their territories," he said. "Each dealer has a service and sales team so that's more feet on the street for us too."
Partners with network integration and consultancy skills were also needed to cater to the growth in demand for document management and multifunction devices, Heard said.
"There is the potential for channel conflict but the broader market is substantial enough to offer new opportunities to partners," he said.
