Hewlett-Packard has rescheduled its inaugural HP Technology Forum 2005, which had been slated to take place this week in New Orleans, and moved the event to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. It will now take place Oct. 17-20.
The HP Technology Forum is the first general user conference sponsored by HP itself. Encompass, an independent HP user group, is due to jointly manage the conference with the vendor, and the OpenView Forum International and ITUG user groups have both said they plan to have a presence at the event.
After Hurricane Katrina swept through the Gulf Coast region two weeks ago, HP had announced that it would reschedule the Technology Forum, but it didn't announce until Monday where the event would take place.
Registration for the conference reopens on Friday. At that time, people who have already registered can go to www.hptechnologyforum.com to arrange hotel accommodations. HP has also included a link to information it has complied about airline ticket refunds and reticketing information.
Another conference that had been planned for New Orleans has been rescheduled as well. The Service & Support Professionals Association (SSPA), a San Diego-based trade group for IT vendors and other companies with technical support and field-service operations, had planned its event for New Orleans beginning on Oct. 9.
SSPA's conference will now be held Oct. 9-12 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Information about registering for that conference is available online.
