• 14 September, 2005 13:39

Three key State Ministers with significant IT portfolio responsibilities will join in one of the most influential Government IT policy discussions ever seen in this country during the South East Asian Regional Computer Confederation 2005 Conference (SEARCC 2005) in Sydney from September 28-30, 2005.

The hour long panel featuring Ministers from the NSW, South Australian and Tasmanian Governments will take place at 2.20pm on the afternoon of Thursday, 29 September and will feature presentations from each Minister and an interactive panel discussion chaired by Linda Kennedy, President, Enterprise Group for IDG Communications.

The Ministers include the NSW Special Minister of State, Minister for Commerce, Industrial Relations, Ageing, Disability Services, Assistant Treasurer and Vice President of the Executive Council, Hon. John Della Bosca MLC, ensuring a high level perspective from the Government of the host state for SEARCC 2005.

Mr Della Bosca will be joined in the panel by the South Australian Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Emergency Services, Hon. Patrick Conlon MLA, who recently oversaw the recruitment of the State’s first ever CIO, and the dynamic, young Tasmanian Minister for State Development and the Arts, Hon. Lara Giddings MLA.

SEARCC 2005 Chairman, Kumar Parakala, said the conference was delighted to have secured such a well-credentialed panel to discuss the broad range of issues confronting IT policy makers in Australia.

“When added to the presence of the Federal Minister responsible for AGIMO, Senator Eric Abetz and the participation of the CIOs from the Federal, NSW and Victorian Governments, SEARCC will be bringing together one of the most high-powered IT policy discussions that has ever been staged in Australia.”

“It just reinforces that the ICT Building Bridges conference is the most important ICT event in Australia in decades – one that should not be missed by the local IT community,” Mr Parakala said.

The ICT Building Bridges Conference, hosted by the Australian Computer Society, will be held at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre on 28-30 September. It incorporates the South East Asian Regional Computer Confederation annual conference and five other leading ICT events.
