Alphawest joins AXS-One and Sun Microsystems to deliver powerful Email Archiving Solution

 • 05 September, 2005 11:29

Alphawest Services Pty Ltd (ASX:ALW) today announced that it has signed an agreement with Sun Microsystems and AXS-One to provide customers with a powerful Email Archiving solution to meet the needs of compliance and regulatory requirements as well as operational requirements in the commercial and public sector markets.

The management of information contained in emails and instant messaging has become a major challenge for large organisations, which need to protect and manage all company information including emails and their attachments.

Information held in email repositories needs to be readily available as a knowledge asset when required and given the appropriate disposal authorities in line with compliance and regulation requirements. At the same time, information that has no business value, such as operational spam and legacy emails, needs to be removed thus reducing operational bottlenecks and potential liabilities. All this needs to be achieved whilst being transparent to the end users. Alphawest, Sun Microsystems and AXS-One jointly aim to deliver policy-driven, high volume, archival solutions for electronic messages that can be configured across many data types, media and devices.

Michael dal Maso, Business Solutions Manager, Information Management Practice, Alphawest said, “This alliance will enable Alphawest to deliver another Information Management (IM) Compliance Solution. Our customers have a strong demand for a solution that will support regulatory compliance and provide data management capabilities, while simultaneously improving system performance.”

“With Alphawest having more than 12 years experience in implementing IT solutions, we are well placed to support total Information Management solutions that encompass all aspects of records. This alliance further complements the Alphawest Electronic Records Management capabilities. Alphawest will assess customers’ needs and combine its partners’ offerings as appropriate to deliver the solution that fits best,” Mr dal Maso concluded.

AXS-One is regarded as an industry leader in user-configurable search and retrieval of archived data. Its Rapid-AXS technology, an integrated feature of the AXS-One Compliance Platform™, recently tested with response times of 2 to 3 seconds during standard archive searches of 10 million sample email records.

Sun’s Compliance and Content Management solution (C2MS) combines AXS-One’s robust Compliance Platform software with Sun’s open, scalable and reliable storage infrastructure.

C2MS is an integrated, optimised and tested solution that enables organisations to address increasingly complex challenges of data retention. It provides supervision for email, instant messaging, structured and unstructured files, and other corporate records for compliance and best practice.

Dan Kieran, Client Solutions Storage and Data Management Practice Manager at Sun Microsystems said, “We are proud to work with Sun Storage Elite certified partner Alphawest and AXS-One to bring this collaborative solution to market in Australia. AXS-One has a strong installed base in local government and Alphawest also has a significant presence in that sector. We see the same synergies across several of the sectors we plan to target with this new compliance platform.”

David Thompson, Managing Director of AXS-One said, “We are excited about this collaboration with Alphawest and Sun Microsystems which has enabled us to build a comprehensive solution to address clients’ compliance requirements. Alphawest, with its deep understanding of Information Management, will help us to deliver real value to the market with our solutions based on powerful Sun Microsystems platforms.”
