LogicaCMG wins WA electricity deal

LogicaCMG today announced that it has been selected to provide IT support and consultancy to Western Power during the electricity company's restructure.

The project is part of the Western Australian government's electricity reform agenda.

Western Power, which owns 60 percent of Western Australia's electricity generation capacity will be split into four individual businesses - generation, retail, networks and regional to stimulate competition.

LogicaCMG managing director of energy and utilities Greg Forbes said the company will assist with the information systems program of work relating to the separation of Western Power's systems for infrastructure, customer and corporate management.

"We have extensive experience in this market and in overseas markets of setting up and operating core IT systems to support competitive energy markets," he said.
