Achieves largest share of revenues in first quarter of 2004 according to IDC

Juniper Networks today announced its market leadership in core routers in Asia/Pacific, including Japan, based on research data from IDC, a leading provider of global IT research and advisory.

IDC’s Asia/Pacific Quarterly (including Japan) LAN Tracker report for the first quarter of 2004 found that Juniper Networks core routing platforms had a 46.8 percent share of revenues in the Asia/Pacific market, with its strongest sales in Japan. According to IDC, Juniper Networks also maintained its APAC market leadership in Broadband Remote Access Servers at 48.2 percent. The IDC study defined core routers as those with 40 or more Gbps of switching capacity and 40 Mbps forwarding capacity. These included Juniper Networks T320, T640 and M160 routing platforms.

According to IDC, high-end and gigabit/terabit routing will have cumulative growth of 7.2 percent from 2003 to 2008 in Asia Pacific with total shipment reaching US$1.7 billion by 2008. Continuous spending on network infrastructure by telcos in the region would be the main growth driver.

“Our market leadership in broadband access servers and, now, core routing platforms, strongly validates the Juniper Networks vision of delivering networks that are reliable, intelligent, and secure,” said Adam Judd, vice president Asia Pacific, Juniper Networks. “Our T-series is deployed in 20 service provider production networks in Asia Pacific today and is the industry's first core routing platform deployed that delivers high availability, reliability and intelligent services at multi-terabit scale.”

According to IDC, Juniper grew its market share in high-end and gigabit/terabit routing in the first quarter of 2004 in Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines.
