Cisco dives into Moshpit

Cisco Systems - along with partners Data#3 and Telstra - has helped to launch a new Internet-enabled Moshpit [Mobile Outreach Service for Health Provided by Integrated Teams] bus providing mobile health services to the homeless in Queensland. The initiative, run in conjunction with Brisbane City Council and Brisbane Mater Hospital, will be operated by Drug Arm. It will travel around the parks in south Brisbane while connected to a high-speed wireless broadband Telstra network, offering services such as simultaneous access to Antenatal Clinic sisters and Centrelink officers and client records.

The bus also features laptops from Data#3 as well as networking hardware and services from Cisco.

The vendor's managing director, Ross Fowler, said the initiative demonstrated the strength of the Internet and how it could assist the community.
