Optima Technology Solutions announced two new reseller programs at last week's Channel Conference in Sydney.
The Notebook Authorised Service Provider (ASP) program will see Optima introduce a commission for resellers servicing its notebooks.
Channel sales manager, William Hamzey, said the initiative complemented its established desktop program. It was also developed out of need to improve service levels.
With the majority of its 200 partners regionally based, he said servicing had been a challenge. "We've had some issues with help desk and servicing," Hamzey said.
Reducing the turnaround time on equipment repairs would sharpen service level agreements for future government and corporate business that were its mainstays, he said.
The vendor would provide participating resellers with training, Hamzey said. All would be required to pass certification in order to join the program. Optima has also appointed a new general manager of customer services.
Hamzey said Alf Santomingo, who was previously a program director at Unisys, had multinational services experience which would help in improving its operational capabilities.
The vendor has also announced a new education program for resellers addressing the small business market. Optima would provide advice on tailoring hardware and services, as well as marketing support, Hamzey said.
