Value-added reseller, MCR Computer Resources, has announced a new partnership with IBM to tackle the infrastructure management market. The deal will see it take on a range of IBM hardware, including its pSeries servers, as both companies look to push deeper into the mid-market. MCR also plans to place greater emphasis on its services offering over the next year.
"IBM is demonstrating a high level of technical leadership in the marketplace and its pSeries will probably become an important component in our IT infrastructure offering," MCR services manager, Geoff Bowker, said.
"Our services strategies in the SME and mid-market will provide a lot of pull-through for IBM products and services. It's hard for bigger vendors to move into SME as the market is so diverse, but we're giving them a vehicle to crack it."
MCR would continue to be closely aligned with Sun for servers and storage, and HP for its OpenView management platform, Bowker said. However, there would be some cuts to its vendor line-up.
"We are looking to provide a comprehensive offering in both premium and commodity level products," he said. "We are trying to fill gaps in our portfolio but will also rationalise any overlaps."
