Optima launches new reseller programs at Channel Conference

 • 22 July, 2005 10:53

SYDNEY, Australia – Optima Technology Solutions (ASX:OPI), the leading Australian PC manufacturer, has announced two new reseller programs at its annual Channel Conference that will enable resellers to increase profits and target new customers. Optima has also used the event to advise resellers about how to prepare themselves to better support the digital home market.

The Channel Conference has seen the launch of a new Notebook Authorised Service Provider (ASP) program, which will provide resellers with the skills they need to repair and service Optima notebooks. Optima’s ASPs are currently only authorised to work on the company’s desktops, so the program will enable resellers to broaden the scope of service they can offer customers. The new initiative will also provide resellers with a good opportunity to increase profit margins, as Optima will pay them for every notebook repair or service they undertake on the company’s behalf.

As part of the program, all participating resellers will be required to undergo various forms of training and pass stringent certification processes to ensure they equipped to provide customers with a level of service that meets Optima’s strict standards.

“We have over 200 ASPs located in rural, regional and metropolitan areas, so we are well positioned to provide responsive support to all of our customers - no matter where in Australia they are located,” said William Hamzey, Channel Sales Manager, Optima. “Our new notebook program serves the dual purpose of allowing us to improve the service we offer customers, and assisting our channel partners to expand the capabilities and profile of their own businesses.”

Ramping up its focus on the small business market, Optima has also launched a new education program that will provide resellers with the tools they need to target customers in this space. Using Optima’s market information and guidance, proactive resellers will be able to gain a better understanding of small business customers, and adapt their hardware and service solutions to better meet their needs.

“Our dedicated reseller network is central to Optima’s success, so it’s important that we evolve our business and offerings to meet our partner’s requirements,” said Hamzey. “While many of our resellers are keen to penetrate new markets and increase the breadth of their business, they are unsure about how to go about it. The small business program will better enable them to reach new customers, successfully growing their own business and expanding Optima’s presence in this sector.”

The Channel Conference has also seen the unveiling of Optima’s latest consumer electronics offerings including an LCD television and data projector, which are expected to hit the local market by the start of the fourth quarter. The release of the new products and the ongoing convergence that the company is seeing between its consumer electronics and computer ranges has prompted Optima to advise resellers to ready themselves for the emerging digital home ecosystem.

“As the digital home becomes an ever increasing reality, it is essential that resellers ensure that their businesses are equipped to support this market,” said Cornel Ung, Managing Director and Executive Chairman, Optima. “Education is key for resellers looking to be successful in this space – they must understand the value of working with content providers and other solution providers to effectively cater for customers needs, and recognise the benefits of bundling services and products.”
