Maxxam has become the first Australian company to be awarded a BS15000/AS8018 certification for IT Service Management.
The local standard is based on the global IT infrastructure library, or ITIL. CEO, Brad Krauskopf, said it had recognised the competitive advantage of attaining the qualification.
"However, the real benefits of AS8018 have been realised within our own organisation," he said.
"Maxxam's vision and team has been realigned by AS8018 and ITIL to become more service focused, customer centric and process orientated."
The inaugural Australian AS8018 audit was conducted by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance (LRQA), who tested under the equivalent British Standard BS15000.
The LRQA certificate has been issued under the UK itSMF accreditation scheme and is endorsed for AS8018 and BS 15000.
The worldwide ISO standard in IT Service Management, ISO 20000, will be released later this year.
