Hyperion and Unisys Partnership Delivers Breakthrough Performance from Boardrooms to Front Lines

 • 18 July, 2005 11:41

Hyperion (NASDAQ:HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software, working with Unisys, (NYSE:UIS), has announced the availability of an end-to-end Business Performance Management (BPM) solution including Business Intelligence (BI) based on Unisys ES7000 server technology. The solution, IT Optimisation for BPM, offers customers scalability gains to meet the demands of large-scale financial consolidation activities, Business Intelligence and information delivery requirements. This results in optimal performance levels and lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

Scalability is paramount for the successful long-term deployment of a BI solution that can continue to address increasingly larger numbers of users. In addition, the ability to expand the scope of analysis and increase the quantity of data available for analysis is critical. IT Optimisation for BPM delivers maximum scalability while enabling reduced implementation TCO and risk through a proven architecture that consolidates applications, services and database tiers on high-end Windows servers. These capabilities meet the diverse needs of broader populations easily, efficiently and with less risk through open Intel based ES7000 server solutions.

“The Hyperion Business Performance Management solution based on Unisys ES7000 servers provides dynamic resource allocation and infrastructure scalability which greatly simplifies mission critical, end-to-end BPM deployment and management in a high-availability environment,” said Fintan Diviney, Director of Channels, Hyperion Australia and New Zealand. “This lowers the total cost of ownership while providing a leading-edge system without compromise.”

Hyperion and Unisys have also unveiled the results of a joint performance test that revealed exceptional performance for the Unisys ES7000 server in supporting a real-world mixed workload of Hyperion Intelligence Server clients. In several previous performance tests with other enterprise applications, Unisys has demonstrated significant value in using a single ES7000 server compared to using multiple Windows commodity services.

The single server configuration provides vastly improved performance while offering lower TCO through reduced administration. When compared with two separate variants of UNIX, the 16-CPU Unisys ES7000 turned in matching query performance time and similar user scalability featuring the magnitude of difference in the complexity and cost of the server environment. Together, Unisys and Hyperion provide our customers with fine tuned, end to end solutions to best meet their mission critical needs.”

Hyperion has been named as a Unisys Partner in Excellence for Business Intelligence and Unisys has been named a Hyperion Preferred Partner.
