Intentia Application Suite Meets Mid-Market Needs for Service-Orientated Architecture

 • 12 July, 2005 11:14

July 12, 2005 — Intentia International AB (publ) (XSSE: INT B), a global enterprise solutions provider for the mid-market, today announces the release of Intentia Application Suite 5.1, a full integration of Intentia’s entire application portfolio that delivers support for service-oriented architecture (SOA) to create business process and application development flexibility, while enabling Web services and a faster return on investment (ROI).

Intentia Application Suite (IAS) is a solution aimed specifically at companies in the manufacturing, distribution and maintenance industries—what we call the make, move and maintain (M3) industries.

Particular focus is placed on those companies in food and beverage, fashion, wholesale distribution, and asset and maintenance intensive industries that include enterprise asset management (EAM) and product service management (PSM). IAS consists of eight Intentia application areas, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Management (ENM), Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), Workplace Management (WPM), Value Chain Collaboration (VCC) and Foundation and Tools (FTO).

Intentia Application Suite 5.1 is further evidence of the company’s ongoing commitment to SOA. Intentia invested early in Java technology. It currently has 200 live customer implementations, and is already delivering a fully Web services-enabled application suite. Intentia Application Suite is sold directly as well as through a rapidly expanding third-party partner channel, a new strategic initiative in the company’s ambitious plans for growth.

Martin Hill, the vice president of Intentia’s Product Marketing group, says that the company continues to invest heavily in its open philosophy. “Intentia continues to strengthen its well-established commitment to industry standards, such as those developed by the Java community with the participation of IBM, Microsoft and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).”

He continues, “This commitment to standards enables Intentia to provide the most advanced platform available for composite application development and a foundation for service-oriented architecture, both of which are predicted by most analysts to become de facto standards for enterprise applications in the future.”

Intentia Application Suite

Intentia Application Suite 5.1 boasts many new features within the CRM, SCM and Foundation and Tools applications.

Within CRM applications, Intentia e-Sales has new advanced channel, category and market analysis functionality, which is provided through Cognos ReportNet. This is designed to improve a company’s ability to implement sales strategies in order to increase revenue and profit. In addition, new capabilities help fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies improve category, space and promotion management. Information from both the sales and order fulfilment processes is now available in the field sales solution. This enables salespeople to improve individual efficiency during customer visits, and ultimately, create opportunities to increase sales.

Within supply chain planning in the SCM applications, Intentia has introduced sales quotas, transport rules and purchase agreements functionality. These powerful constraints increase planning efficiency and optimize profit by controlling what, how much, when and to whom products are purchased, processed, moved and sold.
