Red Rock Consulting has purchased BML & Associates as part of plans to inject PeopleSoft skills into its Oracle business.
The recent completion of Oracle's acquisition of PeopleSoft meant the time was right for the UXC-owned business to also make a similar acquisition, company secretary, Mark Hubbard, said.
"With the Oracle situation it was natural we would acquire BML in order to take their PeopleSoft skills," he said. "We can now offer greater depth of services and support to customers of both companies."
BML - which has offices in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra - will operate as a unit of Red Rock. Its 35 staff, including managing director Philip Milne, will be retained.
With the Fusion project integrating PeopleSoft and JD Edwards products into the Oracle family still expected to take several years, Hubbard said there were a number of opportunities in legacy software support.
"In the transition period we will really need PeopleSoft and Oracle skills to be involved," he said.
There would also be cross-selling opportunities for both applications in mutual verticals such as government and banking, Hubbard said.
With both PeopleSoft and Oracle specialisations under its belt, UXC was not ruling out the addition of an SAP house to complete its ERP trinity, he said.
"It is a part of the market that is of interest and we are always looking at businesses that add to our strategy," Hubbard said.
