Microsoft Tech.Ed 2004 – a technical event of Titanic opportunities

<p>Sydney, Australia – 2nd August, 2004 – IT professionals and developers from around Australia will have the opportunity to network and increase their technical knowledge at the 11th annual Microsoft Australia Tech.Ed 2004 conference. The event kicks off tomorrow at the National Convention Centre in Canberra and is the definitive Microsoft technical training event.</p>
<p>This year marks the first time that the event will be open to the general public during the welcome reception between 3 - 8 pm on Tuesday 3 August. Also a first, Microsoft will be hosting ten student ambassadors representing ten universities from across Australia who will bring the experience and knowledge from Tech.Ed back to their peers at home.</p>
<p>As well as providing training on Microsoft’s current generation of software and an overview of next generation software, the focus for this year’s event is to reignite delegates’ passion for technology and look at the ways in which technology, teamwork and leadership can enhance business success.</p>
<p>Steve Vamos, managing director, Microsoft Australia will open the event alongside deep sea explorer and scientist, Dr. Joseph MacInnis. Dr. MacInnis will talk about the role of technology in his underwater adventures, including exploration of the Titanic. Eric Rudder, Microsoft Corp senior vice president of server and tools, will present his vision of the future to Tech.Ed 2004 attendees in the closing keynote on Friday.</p>
<p>Dozens of speakers from Microsoft Australia and Microsoft’s corporate headquarters will present more than 100 sessions on eight technology topics. The eight tracks offered are as follows:

• E-Business
• Developer Tools &amp; Technologies
• Security
• Windows Infrastructure Solutions
• Messaging
• How to Create, Maintain and Deploy Smart Client Solutions
• Data management</p>
<p>Tech.Ed 2004 will offer opportunities to meet the experts behind the technology as well as hands on training covering Windows infrastructure, security, mobile devices, Exchange and SQL Server.</p>
<p>HP is the Platinum Sponsor and will be providing 375 PCs along with servers at the event.</p>
<p>As Wireless Sponsor, Telstra is providing conference delegates with a free WiFi service for easy broadband access to the Internet or a remote-access corporate network. Delegates will be able to log on to a Telstra Wireless Hotspot covering much of the venue from a WiFi-capable laptop or personal digital assistant.</p>
<p>Telstra is also providing a super-fast Internet link to connect Microsoft’s IT infrastructure at the venue. A 50 Mbps Telstra Ethernet MAN connection into the Telstra Internet Direct business-grade service will allow presenters to download very large files and applications, and stream video.</p>
