SYDNEY, June 27, 2005 – Fortinet – the pioneer and market leader in Unified Threat Management and only provider of ASIC-accelerated, network-based antivirus firewall systems for real-time network protection – today announced that its FortiGate-500A system, an enterprise security appliance, was named a mid-market ‘Product of the Year’ by VARBusiness magazine.

Fortinet’s FortiGate-500A is featured in the special May 2, 2005 VARBusiness “State of the Mid-market” issue.

VARBusiness, a biweekly magazine that provides strategic insight to technology integrators, solicited input from information technology vendors and solution providers to determine which products and services were best for mid-market customers defined as companies with between 100 and 999 employees. Entries were considered and reviewed by VARBusiness editors who selected only 100 of the more than 400 nominated products.

Fortinet’s FortiGate-500A system is an ASIC-accelerated enterprise security appliance that delivers complete Internet content protection to mid-sized enterprises by integrating best in class security features onto a single, affordable and easy-to-manage platform. Unlike leading point product solutions with per user licensing, Fortinet’s FortiGate-500A offers per box licensing for its ICSA-certified capabilities and security features including antivirus, firewall, virtual private networking (VPN), network-based intrusion detection and prevention (IDP), Web content filtering, traffic shaping, anti-spam and grayware blocking, including spyware and adware protection.

The FortiGate-500A system offers enhanced performance and connectivity to meet the more demanding requirements of mid-market enterprises. It includes two 10/100/1000 Ethernet Copper ports and four 10/100 Fast Ethernet ports, and also includes four 10/100 Fast Ethernet Switch ports to allow more flexibility when designing security topologies for mid-market enterprise customers.

All FortiGate systems from large enterprise to small business units can be updated automatically by Fortinet's FortiGuard Distribution Network, which provides continuous updates that ensure protection against the latest viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware and other threats - around the clock and around the world.

“Fortinet’s FortiGate systems enable mid-market enterprises, and businesses of all sizes, to take advantage of network-based applications and the Internet by maximising security performance and minimizing exposure to attack, and we are honoured to be recognized by VARBusiness magazine and the channel partner community as such, ” said Adam Stein, vice president of corporate marketing for Fortinet. “Fortinet’s FortiGate-500A system raises the network security performance bar and delivers unmatched protection, flexibility and usability for a fraction of the cost of other solutions, allowing our channel partners to be very successful selling this product in the mid-market enterprise.”
