Dynamic Supplies has been named the new preferred supplier for national reseller group, Leading Edge.
The specialist distributor will now supply a range of computer consumables from up to 20 vendors to the chain's 142 stores across Australia. Dynamic Supplies managing director, Alex Piccinini, said the company snatched the new business off the back of its service, delivery and stock-holding capabilities. It had previously worked with the buying group's electronics division.
The news follows six months of aggressive investment in national infrastructure by the distributor. In December it moved its 800sqm Victorian warehouse to a new 4000sqm complex. It has also increased warehousing capabilities in Perth from a 300sqm to 2000sqm premises.
The distributor is now moving from a 2200sqm to 3300sqm warehouse in Brisbane. It also has plans to expand its Sydney offices next month. While the larger warehouses were central to winning new business, Piccinini said ongoing investment in infrastructure was needed to meet the demands of its current customer base.
"In the past 12 months we have grown 20-25 per cent," Piccinini said. "There is strong organic growth in the consumables market and we had to move just to be able to continue normally."
Continued reseller anxiety around the Ingram Micro/Tech Pac merger was also working in the company's favour, he said.
"Because Ingram is now such a dominant supplier of HP, people are looking for alternative suppliers, so a lot of business has come our way," Piccinini said. "Resellers also remain fearful around lines of credit and credit limits."
The company was also looking towards gaining more national customers in its effort to grab a greater share of the consumables market, he said.
