Sun turns to NetEffects in the Gold Coast

Sun has signed up its first hardware reseller in the Gold Coast to service its growing developer community in the region.

Networking specialist, NetEffects, had already established a partnership with Golden Orb Technologies, a local Java and XML software developer, Sun partner director, Michael May, said.

Vertical knowledge of telco, banking and finance had also been a decisive factor in the NetEffects appointment. Sun would continue to recruit partners focused mainly on the SMB space in regional centres as well as smaller cities such as Newcastle, May said.

VARs and ISVs with expertise in local government, health and the construction industry would be particularly attractive.

The recent decision to make Solaris available to the open source community would further enhance Sun's offering to developers and foster collaboration, he said.
