Abel keen to Leverage the channel

Sydney network device vendor, NetLeverage, has appointed several new resellers recently as part of a national recruitment drive.

Regal IT, Open Channel Solutions, BlueFire and PC Network Technologies were among the new line-up that would boost numbers to above 20 resellers, sales and marketing manager, Mike Abel, said.

A former Citrix channel marketing manager, Abel joined NetLeverage earlier in the year with a brief to increase its reseller base, as well as expand its distribution.

The company was in negotiations with another distributor to add to Tecksel and five other resellers, he said.

"Most of our resellers are Sydney-based so we are now looking for channel partners in other states as well as overseas," Abel said.

The company was looking for smaller vertically specialised resellers as well as larger integrators that had several divisions including an SME focus, he said.

Vertical opportunities in education, accounting and law were of particular interest for partner relationships, Abel said.

A channel program would be developed by year's end, he said.

The company's expansion plans had been aided by a Commercialising Emerging Technologies (COMET) government grant awarded earlier in the year, Abel said.

COMET is a competitive, merit-based program that supports emerging companies to successfully commercialise innovations.

NetLeverage services the SME market with three main products: NetPoint, WebGuard and ThinPoint.

All offer Internet security, in conjunction with a broad range of features such as server functionality, network administration and remote applications capability.
