Mitel Helps Channel Profit From Broadband

 • 21 June, 2005 14:59

Sydney Australia, June 21st 2005 – Mitel, a leading provider of IP communications solutions, today launched a channel campaign designed to help Australian resellers and systems integrators profit from the recent explosive growth in usage of both home and business broadband Internet services.

Mitel has put together a low cost solution set designed to allow resellers to immediately offer high margin voice, video and teleworking application solutions. The solutions are suitable for small offices with as few as 5 staff, as well as businesses that need to connect home office workers to a central office voice system.

According to recent figures published by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commision there were 1.5 million active broadband Internet services across Australia in December 2004, with an annual growth rate of 121%.

Teleworking solutions are the foundation of many possible value added services built over broadband Internet services. Mitel’s teleworking solutions allow a full featured office business phone to be deployed anywhere broadband Internet access is available. This greatly improves productivity for staff that choose to work from home.

Additional research into the Australian market carried out for Mitel Australia in May 2005, showed that 61% of Managers surveyed from companies with 20 to 49 staff had worked from home in the week prior to the research study, with 78% having an existing broadband Internet connection at home.

Gwilym Funnell, Mitel Australia Managing Director commented, “Home broadband Internet services can deliver more than music downloads and entertainment. Mitel’s Teleworking solution uses broadband Internet to let people choose where they want to work – while delivering all of the advanced voice services that you would expect at your office. The Mitel 3300CXi makes advanced IP Telephony features affordable for any size business.”

To support resellers offering broadband solutions, Mitel will offer solution training programs, technical support and consulting services that can be resold, as well as marketing and sales support.

To coincide with the new program, Mitel has also announced the Australian availability of the new Mitel 3300CXi.

The Mitel 3300CXi offers small sites a low cost way to deploy an entire portfolio of IP Telephony applications, including Teleworking, Unified Messaging, Presence and Video-conferencing.

Mitel’s 3300CXi is a fully integrated system, offering voice, video and data services. It enables any business to deliver advanced voice and collaboration tools to their staff at any Internet connected location. All of these services can be deployed at low cost, and work in conjunction with low cost broadband Internet services.

Other applications available with the 3300CXi include voicemail, unified messaging, automated reception attendant, the latest generation XML applications, and caller ID screen pops that automatically bring up client data within applications when a client calls.

The Mitel 3300CXi offers many features that are specifically tailored for small sites. Options include an inbuilt 16-port Ethernet switch with Power over Ethernet support, Internet security Firewall, and Internet router with NAT. The 3300CXi integrates seamlessly with popular email systems such as Hotmail, Microsoft, Lotus, as well as offering application integration with CRM software from ACT.
